Comparison
EnvironDesk vs Intelex
Intelex is a broad EHSQ suite; EnvironDesk is a narrow environmental compliance system for one country. The choice is less about which is better and more about whether your problem is breadth across safety and quality, or depth in Indian environmental regulation.
What is the difference between EnvironDesk and Intelex?
Intelex is an EHSQ platform covering environment, health, safety and quality — incident management, audits, inspections, document control, permits and sustainability reporting — across industries including manufacturing, construction and healthcare. EnvironDesk covers only environmental regulatory compliance, but models Indian requirements natively: CPCB categories, consent conditions, GPCB forms and Form-V.
What Intelex is genuinely good at
Intelex has been in this market a long time and covers considerably more ground than we do. Occupational injury and illness management, incident tracking, inspections, document control and quality management sit alongside the environmental modules, so a company that wants one system for safety, quality and environment gets a coherent answer. It has been part of Industrial Scientific since 2019, which brought investment in mobile and connected-worker capability, and it publishes entry pricing rather than making every buyer ask.
- Environment, health, safety and quality in one platform
- Strong occupational health and safety and incident management
- Quality management alongside EHS — useful if you hold ISO 9001 too
- Published entry-level pricing, which most enterprise EHS vendors avoid
- Mobile app and connected-worker investment since the Industrial Scientific acquisition
Where EnvironDesk is different
Intelex has permit management; it does not have a Consent to Operate. That distinction sounds pedantic and is the whole thing. A permit record stores a document and a date. A consent object knows that its validity follows from the CPCB category, that it carries numbered conditions with numeric limits, that a NABL lab result maps onto those limits, and that its data feeds nine parts of a Form-V due on 30 September. Everything EnvironDesk automates depends on modelling that, and a platform serving many countries reasonably chooses not to.
- Consent conditions stored as testable limits, not as an attached PDF
- Lab results scored automatically against that factory's own consent
- Form-V, Form-IV and hazardous waste returns generated from your data
- XGN portal form preparation with attachments in submission order
- Multi-client structure for consultancies, not just multi-site for one company
- WhatsApp alerting to factory owners as well as internal staff

Choose Intelex if…
- You need occupational health and safety and incident management as much as environmental
- You want quality management in the same system as EHS
- You operate across several countries and need one global EHSQ platform
- Your environmental obligations are straightforward permits rather than a consent-condition regime
Choose EnvironDesk if…
- Your environmental compliance is Indian and detailed: CTO, CTE, Form-V, hazardous waste returns
- You are a consultancy or audit firm serving many factory clients
- You want returns drafted from your own data, not a document library
- You need to be live this week without an implementation project
Questions
- Is EnvironDesk cheaper than Intelex?
- We deliberately do not publish a comparison of prices, because Intelex's published entry pricing covers a core safety plan rather than the environmental modules an Indian factory would need, and quoting it against our figure would be comparing different things. Get a quote from both for your actual scope. The number worth comparing is first-year total cost including any implementation, not headline licence cost.
- Does Intelex work in India?
- Yes — it is used internationally and there is nothing preventing Indian deployment. The question is not whether it works but how much configuration your team does to represent CPCB categories, consent conditions and Indian statutory returns in a system that has no native concept of them, and who maintains that configuration when the rules change.
- We need safety incident management too. What then?
- Then a broad EHSQ platform is a legitimate answer and you should evaluate Intelex properly. Some Indian firms run a safety system alongside EnvironDesk for the environmental statutory workload; our REST API supports that. We would rather tell you this than sell you a tool that does half your job.
